I was presented with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I was encouraged to make a record by a two-time Grammy winner. He also had signed on to produce the record. Talk about pressure. One thing that doesn't get discussed much about being a musician is the physical & mental nature of it. It is at the same time athletic and emotional. You need to know yourself, and your physical skill in performing. Sara and I worked through the 'mental management' aspects, the philosophy of the training and experience that was making the record (writing, rehearsing, performing and communicating) in a way that was difficult to do without her multi-disciplinary expertise. To be able to work through the 'how', the 'why', and the 'what do you intend to produce' aspects of the project prior to engaging in it made for a much clearer vision and set of expectations for me.
